We usually spend from three to five months at the Cal Am property in Val Vista Villages in Mesa, AZ. When we made our reservations for the 2018 season we were informed that the current rate was subject to change but would be in the order of 5%.

We just got our notice and the rates are up a staggering 21%!! Their fall rate has increased from $595 for four months to $995 for three months - an increase of 122%. Nice facilities but very old utilities and lots.

We have been their customers for 5 years but this is the last year with them. No comment from the management other than they say they are full next year so we must assume they don't want returning customers.

I totally agree. We are Park model owners at Val Vista.

Every year for the past six years there has been a price increase. It started at $150 per year, then $200 and this year, with no explanation, it's a whopping $400. There have been water breaks and power interruptions almost continuously, and while we enjoy our AZ experience it's getting increasingly upsetting that there is no end in sight for their rent increases. It may be one of the cheaper properties but we aren't getting the same value for our money.

Taking a break this year to travel around and see what life is like outside Val Vista. If it's just as fun we will be selling.


Unknown to those of us who reside or are thinking of residing at a CAL-AM property, the CEO of the company, Cory S.Sukert, is the son-in-law of Norton S. Karno, former CEO of CAL-AM PROPERTIES, INC.

and executor of the estate for L. R. Hubbard, the founder of the Church of Scientology.

Be informed as there is no difference in the tactics of the Scientologists and the management of all CAL-AM Properies.


Why do you think all CAL-AM properties are all 55+?

We are older and some of us are... Elderly, fixed income, disabled, retired veterans, dealing with health issues, etc.

One thing we are not is dumb! SPREAD THE WORD!

Please warn your friends and family to investigate the corporation behind any 55+ property. You really don't want to be in our shoes and stuck in CAL-AM *ELL!
